The Compact MP3 Recorder for Windows is a very easy to use MP3 recorder
designed to take up minimal space on your desktop (actual size shown below) and
be very light on your computer's resources. It's probably the smallest
recorder available leaving you plenty of room to run other programs but still
keep an eye on your recording levels.

More Information
Very simple controls
Controlling the recorder is as easy as pressing a record button to begin
recording and a stop button to finish recording, with a pause function also
available when required.
When recording is finished you are asked to enter the track title, album and
the artist's name and these are saved into the MP3 files so media players can
display them.
Automatic generation of filenames and folders
Rather than bother you for the filename to use and the folder to save to, the
Compact MP3 Recorder uses the track information you enter to automatically
generate a name and destination folder for the new file.
The rules used to generate the filename and destination folder can easily be
modified to tailor the folder structure and filename format to your own needs.
Of course, if you prefer to provide the filenames yourself, you can do this
too.
Generation of two output files
With the dual file output version, the program can be configured to create two
MP3 files with different recording qualities. This allows you to create
CD quality and podcast quality files at the same time without having to use
editing software. The destination filename and folder formats are totally
independent so you can name them and place them where you like.
Very Compact, hence the name!
The Compact MP3 Recorder is very compact in terms of the space it takes up on
your desktop so you can easily use other programs on your computer while you
are recording.
It is also very light on your computer's resources, your PC will hardly know
it's running the program so it can happily get on with running other software -
even when you're recording two files at once!
Configurable appearance
How the recorder appears on your screen is very configurable. You can
choose from one of three sizes for the meter window and set the recording
controls to appear above, below, to the left or to the right of the meter
window. You can set it so that the whole recorder including the
rectangular Windows frame with the menu is always visible, you can set it so
the frame disappears when the mouse moves away from the window leaving just the
recording controls and the meter window, or you can use the default which is to
make everything but the meter window disappear when the mouse is not over the
window.
Numerous recording qualities
Using the Fraunhofer codec that comes with Windows Media Player 10 and above
you have a selection of a large number of sampling rates and bit rates as well
as being able to choose between stereo and mono recording. This is all
easily accessible through the Program Settings window.
System Requirements
The Compact MP3 Recorder has the following system requirements...
-
Windows XP (SP1 or later) or Windows Vista 32-bit - If your computer can run
these versions of Windows it can almost certainly run the MP3 Recorder!
-
Windows Media Player 10 or later which provides an encoder to generate
MP3 output.
If you're not sure if your system meets these requirements, just download the
program and give it a try!
